Another plant that resembles wisteria, with far thicker trunks and a much larger pergola. Its branches look weathered and ancient, probably more than ten years old. Beneath this trellis, even in the hottest summer days, it stays pleasantly shaded. I noticed its main stems differ from those of ordinary trees: they twist and coil around one another. When it was young, its tender vines wrapped their way up the pergola. As years passed, those vines lignified into thick woody stems yet remained intertwined. It looks powerful and resilient all at once.
