Beside it lies a much larger lake. Yet this tiny waterbody draws me more. It is so small that standing on its bank, it feels like a little pond, a sharp contrast against the big lake nearby. This small pond is nearly circular. It is autumn now, and the weather has turned cool. The lotus here has passed its peak blooming season. This is an artificial waterbody within a small scenic area on the urban fringe. Workers regularly clean the water and maintain the aquatic plants. I have not checked whether this small pond connects to the large lake next to it. From what I have read about this scenic area, the big lake is not stagnant water; it links to an outer river, so it is flowing water. To see the lotus in full bloom here, I will have to wait until next summer. Still, I am curious about how this place will look after snow in winter.
